Quilt Blocks.

I have to make 90 quilt blocks for a quilt large enough to fit my bed. I'm only up to 30 blocks completed. Something about just doing the same block over and over and over and over.. it's making it difficult to finish this quilt.
They aren't identical blocks... I'm trying to piece them randomly, but still... it is the same block... repeatedly. I tend to walk away when I get bored... and I get bored quickly, especially with nothing else to work on.

BUT!!!

I received two boxes of fabric and books, generously given to my by my Bragg Bestie's mother-in-law. She knows I like to quilt and she's seen some of my stuff so she sent me two boxes. I have never met this woman... How cool that she sent me this stuff!?
I am going to make her a wall quilt, to say thank you. I found a cute paper pieced bird... sitting on a mushroom {I think} in one of the books she sent. It's super cute, so I'm going to make that.

I also found out my niece {just turned two today!} loves to carry around purses and stuff, so I'm going to make her a few drawstring bags and a purse.

I have two or three unfinished projects, I just remembered and I think I'll get working on those too.

I am hoping I can do a few quilt blocks in between, I need to get this quilt finished for my bed.

Felt toys.

I still haven't gotten much sewing done here lately. But I did start on this barn for my friend's son. His birthday is the day after my oldest daughters, in May.

So I bought some felt and got started. So far I have finished the cow, horse and lamb, though according to my kids the lamb doesn't look like a lamb.
I already know Dean likes them because they were over last night for dinner and he somehow got ahold of them. I didn't let him take them home though, he'll have to wait til the entire farm is done and it's his birthday!

These are made of felt and hand sewn.

MIA : Here's why.

So I've been MIA the last week! Sorry about that {not that ya'll really care... one less blog to worry about in your feed LOL}.

My sister-in-law was visiting and even after she left I sort of got into the cleaning mode since next week Fort Bragg is having their Post Wide Yard Sale and I'd really like to clear some things out of the house.

Anyway, just popping in.

I wanted to see if any of you were on MyFitnessPal?? I just downloaded it yesterday. I'm hoping it can help me shed a few pounds and then keep them off. It's pretty neat so far because you can scan the barcodes of the foods you're eating and it automatically calculates calories for you. According to the app I can lose 5 pounds by May 13 if I consume 1200 calories or less per day. So we shall see.

I almost made it yesterday but we ate out at Dairy Queen and even though I got the chicken.... it was sort of a 6 piece {maybe} and it kind of used up my calories for the entire day... EEP. Guess we won't be eating there anymore!!! I was almost 600 calories over.... ugh.

I don't know how to add people on there, except via facebook, but if you know how to add people and you have the app, my username is "pnnydctt". So look me up and we can keep each other  motivated!

Anyway, hopefully I get back to sewing here sometime soon although with the nicer weather I'm not so sure... it's so nice out I just want to sit out there and read or walk.

Speaking of reading....!!!! I just read "Night Road" by Kristin Hannah... and just WOW. I cried sooo much reading that book. It's an amazing book and if you haven't read it, you should!

Gifted: Cali - an art quilt

You saw little bits of this quilt if you follow me on Instagram.. and if you're on Craftsy you've seen the entire quilt already. I made this quilt for my sister-in-law, Michelle.

We didn't get off on the right foot when we met, but I feel like we're friends now and trust me when I say we have come a long way.

My husband and I flew her down from New Hampshire for a visit {she got here yesterday!} and now that she is finally here and has seen the quilt herself I can share it here. She follows on Facebook and I didn't want to ruin the surprise!

First, here is the original photo of Cali {Michelle's baby}...
And the finished quilt:
Can  you see I stitched her name in the bottom right corner? This was a couple firsts for me, for one I had to embroider her pupil because I couldn't do a piece of fabric small enough, and second I bought a necklace chain for the actual dog chain and used a button for the um... whatever the tag is that goes on there.
I also added a quilt label to the back, which is not something I've really done before. On Melissa's table runner I did sign that, but as part of the table runner, not a separate label. So this is my very first quilt label... and really has me wanting to make labels for everything else I have finished and add the labels to those, starting with Getting Along.
And then a shot of the back of the quilt just because I think it looks cool.
At the end of the day I can say I am pretty happy with this quilt.
