Monkey - Quilted Library Tote

I finished my nephew's library tote. Now that I'm finished I can mail them out.

The monkey is paper pieced from a book that was sent to me, his tail and eyes are embroidered (which I am not very good at...). Well... also I was out of brown floss so I had to use yellow...
The word "read" was made using Elizabeth Hartman's Refrigerator Magnets Pattern. And instead of an all over straight line quilting pattern I just random quilted a few stars here and there...
And there is no pattern for the bag, I just whipped it up myself. It is the same size as Lilly's bag.

Which is....hmmm... I did not measure it before posting... the front and back panels were cut at 12 1/2" by 14 1/2" and the sides were cut 3" wide {I think}. So that should give you some idea.

Of course I added a label to Andrew's bag too:
And then I went out and bought each of the kids a couple books to get them started using their bags.

Penguin Quilted Library Tote

I finished the library tote for my niece a while ago and I'm now working on the one for my nephew {his will be a monkey}. I had a lot of fun with this and I think it came out nice... even though my husband insists the penguin doesn't look like a penguin :/

I used just the same fabric on the inside and straps and I'm kind of wishing I'd used contracting fabric.... and the only part of the bag that is quilted is the front panel. It is just some straight line quilting.
I made a label for the inside... not sure if you're supposed to add labels to totes or not but I did it anyway... ha
I hope she likes it... well... she's like two so she will so I guess I should say I hope her mommy likes it :)

The penguin paper piecing pattern was from an old book someone sent me and the letters for the tote are by Elizabeth Hartman... called refrigerator magnets {GREAT PATTERN}.

I haven't been on Craftsy in a while but I was over there today and did you see they have new quilting classes!!!?? I can't decide which to join...

Quilt-As-You-Go: Patchwork Bags, Pattern-Free Quiltmaking, Strip Your Stash Decisions, decisions.

Actually more than that... I don't know if ya'll know it but I like to draw and paint and my kids also like to draw and paint. Annnddddd... guess what classes Craftsy now has??

I think I want to take the landscape classes. Have you enrolled in any of these new classes??

WIP - Library Tote

I'm working on making library totes for my niece and nephew... My friend's mother-in-law sent me more fabric and more books and one of the books is just paper pieced animals. So I asked what animals Andrew and Lily would like and I was told monkey and penguin.
My husband tells me my penguin does not look like a penguin....
I know there is no eye yet... but I think it looks like a penguin... it looks like the paper!!!
The alphabet pattern is by Elizabeth Hartman, which you can purchase off her blog here. It is called refrigerator magnets. Great pattern... lotsa pages... several sizes of every letter both capital and lower case.
That's as far as I've gotten... and now unfortunately I have to stop for a few days because I have to make another barn {other barn here}.

I feel like I have really been neglecting my blog lately...
